Shiba Inu and Dogecoin Now Supported by AMC’s Mobile App

According to an announcement tweeted by CEO Adam Aron, the official mobile app of AMC Theatres, the world’s largest movie theatre chain, now allows users to buy tickets using Shiba Inu and Dogecoin.

With the assistance of the leading cryptocurrency payment processor BitPay, AMC eventually enabled support for SHIB and DOGE to their website in early March. After Aron ran Twitter polls to gauge demand, the company agreed to adopt the two cryptocurrencies in late 2021.

Billy Markus, the co-founder of Dogecoin, has suggested that the movie theatre chain consider sharing usage statistics in order to evaluate how popular the new payment choices are. Markus believes that by promoting “competitive purchasing,” such a move could increase demand. After initially announcing the plan in August, AMC began taking Bitcoin, Ethereum, and numerous other cryptocurrencies in November.

The movie theatre chain, whose stock became a “Yolo” trader’s darling in early 2021, is recognized for its unusual decisions. The company stunned the financial community last month when it purchased a stake in a Nevada-based gold mining company.
