The Base mainnet’s formal public debut is scheduled for August. The Base team previously announced that their testnet attracted over a million wallet addresses that deployed on the network.

With no plans to issue a network token, Base aims to onboard the next million builders and billion users onto the blockchain. After a successful testnet launch and witnessing the growth of projects on Base, the platform is now inviting early builders to deploy their products on Base mainnet. To commemorate their participation, builders will receive a Genesis Builder NFT.

During this phase, Base will provide hands-on support to builders through their dedicated channel in the Base Discord community. The team encourages builders to refrain from publicly exposing their user-facing dApps until early August, when Base will open its doors to the world.

Builders can access the mainnet RPC for Base via developer-access-mainnet.base.org. However, it is important to note that these endpoints are rate-limited and should not be used for production applications. Base recommends running your own node or using trusted node providers for production usage.

To facilitate gas for deployments, builders can bridge ETH to Base using the portal proxy contract. It is crucial to only send ETH to the portal proxy contract and not any other assets.

As part of the preparations for the mainnet launch, the Base core team conducted extensive internal and external security assessments to strengthen the network’s and the Optimist Protocol Stack’s security (OP Stack). According to the team, these examinations included Coinbase protocol specialists as well as over 100 external security researchers.
