The Domain Name “000.eth” Has Been Sold For More Than 300,000 USD

Ethereum domain name “000.eth” has just found a buyer for 300 ETH, equivalent to nearly 320,000 USD in the sale. Interest in Ethereum Name Service (ENS) and its decentralized domains has yet to wane, and 3-digit domain name sales prove it.

3-digit domain name is still “hot”

Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a domain name provider for the Ethereum blockchain. These domains are non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which are considered the foundation of decentralized websites. These days, they’re mostly used as an alternative to Ethereum addresses, as they’re easier to read and use than a bunch of random characters.

Over the past few months, digital domains from the Ethereum Domain Name Service (ENS), such as 123.eth or 456.eth, for example, have been selling at exorbitant prices.

Some collectors prefer to keep such domains that correspond to the identifiers of their NFTs. For example, the owner of Bored Ape #7000 might want to own 7000.eth. This is also one of the reasons why their prices are so high.

The latest example of the madness that has captured domains of this type, “000.eth” has just sold for 300 ETH, or nearly $320,000 at the time of sale. Purely symbolic, it should be noted that the .eth domain name is limited to 3 characters, so in theory it is one of the main combinations possible on the Ethereum Name Service.

This is the highest turnover of decentralized domains after “paradigm.eth” at 420 ETH last year, or nearly $1.5 million in the sale. However, part of the NFT community rejects the legitimacy of the sale of “paradigm.eth” and therefore considers the sale of “000.eth” to be the most expensive to date.
