Polygon surpasses Ethereum in this regard for the first time

The daily active addresses on the Polygon blockchain have reached 351,000, surpassing Ethereum for the first time since it was founded – another important milestone for the network. Polygon co-founder Mihailo Bjelic tweeted about this pivotal moment on Sept. 27, claiming it was “just the beginning”.

The number of MATIC addresses is currently 351,000 while Ethereum is only 326,000. This achievement is a huge step forward for a network that has quickly become the norm in the marketplace. The network layer 2 scaling solutions were quickly incorporated into a number of projects, all of which praised their performance.

Polygon’s multi-chain system has reduced gas charges and dramatically increased transaction speeds while maintaining network security. The framework is designed to be developer-friendly, and teams can provision blockchain reservation networks with one click while using modules to create custom networks.

Polygon was founded in 2017 by Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, Anurag Arjun and Mihailo Bjelic and is an open source project that has been renamed from MATIC. Mentors for the project are Hudson Jameson, Ryan Sean Adams, Anthony Sassano, Pete Kim and John Lilic.

Since its inception, Polygon has made continuous advances in technical development and expansion into the Ethereum ecosystem. 2021 in particular is an incredible year for the project.

Polygon is not slowing down, either in business or technical terms. It has received funding from multiple sources involving several big names, including Ernst & Young, which will use Polygon to scale the Ethereum company.

Polygon is also expanding into the non-fungible token space, with a new division focused on games and NFTs. Polygon Studios’ first project was the Rario NFT platform.

On the technical side, the team released a general purpose blockchain called Avail. This new blockchain offers independent chains and sidechains with any execution environment and has many functions that make it easier to start and handle blockchains.
