Twitter Announces Adding Ethereum in the tipping option

Social media giant Twitter first introduced the Tip Jar feature in early May last year, which allows users and followers to make money. The social media platform added BTC as a payment option to its platform last September.

Now Twitter has announced that it has added the second largest cryptocurrency, Ethereum, as a betting option. This leading social media app announced an update today.

Users wishing to receive ETH tips simply enable the platform’s restricted features and add an Ethereum address to the relevant section of their profile.

The move comes a few months after Twitter officially released its Bitcoin mobile trick via the Lightning network.

This new feature represents a deeper connection between the popular social media platform and the cryptocurrency. Last month, Twitter gave users of its Twitter Blue subscription service the ability to verify their NFT profile picture. This development has raised questions about the social media company’s crypto-related goals.

However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that he doesn’t like Twitter’s new NFT integration.

In a tweet, Musk slammed Twitter developers and executives, saying they were wasting technical resources on useless features instead of focusing on protecting users from scammers.

Twitter product manager Johnny Winston used the following phrases in a statement on the matter:

“We continue to expand the ways we get paid on Twitter with more options for developers and fans looking to use crypto.”

The late integration of Ethereum into the tipping option is credited to Jack Dorsey. Dorsey famously resigned as Twitter CEO last December. Since then he has been working on building the Bitcoin infrastructure at Block. Twitter announced in November that it had formed a cryptocurrency team for DApp development
