  • Block Production Start: Block production will begin at 9 AM UTC on January 8. Validators and finality providers can register their participation once block production starts.
  • Staking Web App Launch: The upgraded staking web app (btcstaking.testnet.babylonlabs.io) will be available at 10 AM UTC. This platform allows users to register their Phase-1 testnet stakes into the new Babylon Phase-2 testnet.
  • Phase-1 Staking Monitoring: The original staking app (btcstaking.testnet.babylonchain.io) will remain active until 8:30 AM UTC for users who wish to monitor their existing Phase-1 stakes.

Focus of Babylon Phase 2 Testnet

The primary goal of the Babylon Phase 2 testnet is to introduce a Babylon PoS chain secured by Signet Bitcoin and Babylon stakes. This phase will test:

  • Seamless registration of existing Phase-1 Signet Bitcoin stakes into Phase-2.
  • Babylon’s operational stability by engaging key participants, including:
    • Signet Bitcoin stakers
    • Finality providers
    • CometBFT validators
    • Liquid (re)staking protocols
    • Wallets and dApp developers
