Animoca Unveils The New $2 Billion Metaverse Investment Fund
Animoca Brands, a Web3 game and software company, is launching a $2 billion fund to invest in metaverse startups.
Animoca Capital, the fund’s name, is anticipated to make its first investment next year, according to co-founder and executive chairman Yat Siu in an interview with Nikkei. He noted that the fund’s emphasis would be entirely on digital property rights.
He has repeatedly expressed his conviction that Web3 technologies, such as NFTs, have the potential to liberate content producers from the tyranny of Web2 tech behemoths while also providing consumers with greater control over their data.
Animoca Brands is one of the most active Web3 investors. Its subsidiaries include metaverse game platforms The Sandbox, Blowfish Studios, Grease Monkey Games, and Eden Games, in addition to investments.
