Famous Ethereum co-founder does not use cryptocurrency for security reasons

Ethereum co-founder Anthony Di Iorio has announced his intention to leave the crypto industry and has raised concerns about his personal safety.

According to a report by Bloomberg on July 17, Di Iorio plans to sell his digital asset firm Decentral and sever ties with all other crypto projects he is currently involved in. He says that because of his improved profile in the crypto space, he no longer feels safe:

“It has a risk profile that I’m not too passionate about. I don’t necessarily feel safe in this room. If I concentrate on the bigger problems, I’ll be safer. “

Di Iorio has a background in web development and is one of eight co-founders who started working on Ethereum in 2014. He was Chief Digital Officer of the Toronto Stock Exchange in 2016 and has recently focused on venture capital and startup advisory years.

In 2016, the 48-year-old Canadian entrepreneur founded the blockchain company Decentral, which operates Jaxx Liberty – a cross-platform crypto wallet with a user base of over a million.

Di Iorio has been with a security team since 2017. In 2018, Forbes estimated his net worth at $ 1 billion and listed Di Iorio on its list of crypto-rich people of the year. That same year, Di Iorio gained even more attention after buying Canada’s largest apartment for $ 22 million and using crypto as a currency.

Di Iorio is now expected to sell Decentraland for “hundreds of millions” stressing that he will only accept cash or shares of another company for payment and will not consider offers

The entrepreneur also emphasized that he did not want to invest in blockchain startups in the future.

In an effort to find more philanthropy, Iorio joined Project Arrow – Canada’s first zero-emission vehicle project – and the entrepreneur claimed that cryptocurrency can only solve one problem.

“I want to diversify so as not to be a crypto guy, but a problem solver. I would include crypto if necessary, but often it’s not … It’s really a small percentage of what the world needs. “

Of the 8 co-founders of Ethereum, only Vitalik Buterin is still actively working on the blockchain platform.

Charles Hoskinson and Gavin Wood formed rival blockchains, namely Cardano and Polkadot. Mihai Alisie and Joeseph Lubin founded companies that focused on the development and application of Ethereum and started the AKASHA and ConsenSys projects, respectively.

The remaining founders, Amir Chetrit and Jeffrey Wilcke, have taken steps similar to Di Iorio by leaving cryptocurrencies to focus on other industries.
