Helium Mobile Brings Network To Solana’s Saga Phones
Customers of Solana Labs’ new Saga phones will receive SIM cards and free trials from Nova Labs, the organization behind Helium Network and a new crypto-powered cellular service dubbed Helium Mobile. This firm also developed Helium Mobile.
According to a news release, the partnership provides a 30-day complimentary subscription to Helium Mobile for Saga phones sold in the United States. The flagship Android handset from Solana, the Saga phone, is fully connected with the Solana blockchain.
A decentralized grid of wireless hotspots called the Helium Network intends to offer an alternative to mobile data service or hard-wired internet. Cryptocurrencies fuel the services, and users that join the network are rewarded for doing so.
By rewarding users who set up 5G hotspots with MOBILE tokens, Helium encourages the growth of the 5G network. In the company’s IoT crypto mining strategy, customers would receive HNT tokens in exchange for operating hotspots.
Boris Renski, GM of Wireless for Nova Labs, stated:
“As we gear up to launch the world’s first cryptocarrier, our partnership will help bring low-cost, reliable and decentralized 5G coverage to Saga users across the U.S.”
The cellular-focused service Helium Mobile won’t be live until the first quarter of 2023, but to fill in the projected dead spots, the business just signed a five-year deal with the industry’s largest cellular provider, T-Mobile.
