Brian Armstrong is the CEO and founder of Coinbase. Originally from California, he relocated to Texas to pursue his studies in computer science and economics. Upon completing his master’s degree in computer science, he established a business that connected students with tutors. Additionally, he gained valuable experience working as a developer and software engineer at prominent tech companies such as IBM and Airbnb.
In 2010, Armstrong became an early adopter and advocate of Bitcoin after reading the original whitepaper. During his travels in Brazil and South America, he identified numerous opportunities to improve cross-border payment systems. To address this issue, he began coding a platform that would enable individuals to store and send cryptocurrency. As a result, he founded Coinbase in 2012 with an initial investment capital of $150,000.
Since its inception, Coinbase has grown into one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges worldwide, with an impressive 56 million registered users.
