Starknet v0.13.3 Is Expected To Be Launched Mainnet This Week
Key Points:
- Starknet v0.13.3 update cuts blob gas costs to one-fifth, reducing fees for users and improving the performance of both Starknet and Ethereum.
- Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin praised Starknet’s advancements, urging other rollups to adopt similar strategies to enhance network efficiency.
Ethereum Layer 2 network Starknet has unveiled its latest update, v0.13.3, in a bid to help alleviate growing demand for Ethereum blobs, temporary data that lets Ethereum layer 2 respond faster and more economically while easing the load off the Ethereum mainnet.

Starknet v0.13.3 Reduces Blob Gas Costs by 80%
The Starknet v0.13.3 update significantly slashes blob gas costs to a fifth of the previous cost, hence offering lower fees for users while improving network performance.
Starknet is live on testnet with the v0.13.3 update and will hit mainnet this week. It also noted that demand for Ethereum blobs has already outpaced the target blob efficiency, underscoring the need to find creative solutions to manage this growing use.
Blob is crucial for the scaling of Layer 2 by combining two causes: increasing the capacity of the blobs from Ethereum and improving the efficiency of rollup data.
Vitalik Buterin Praises Starknet’s Efficiency Breakthrough
The Starknet v0.13.3 update tackles one of the major challenges to scaling Layer 2: more efficient data from rollups. Starknet is the first rollup to have this kind of solution, and it greatly enhances the pace of the ecosystem.
Needless to say, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said this update was a major leap in efficiency with respect to data processing. He further added that such a move should be emulated by other EVM rollups.
Previously, the network announced that Starknet v0.13.3 would include the “stateless compression” and “squashing discount” features to try and reduce network fees. The innovations are set to scale Starknet while contributing to the efficiency of the main Ethereum network.
