Gibbs, 31, plans to use the crypto finance startup XBTO in December 2021 to convert 50% of his USD salary into BTC. According to XBTO, Gibbs will not be charged conversion costs, and the monies will be sent to his bitcoin wallet.
XBTO claims to have extensive expertise dealing with difficult crypto conversions and achieving liquidity. The firm also emphasizes that it has its own ESG-compliant mining facility, which provides it with access to newly produced bitcoins.
